When I Exercise, I Get Tired.

Besides two plain t-shirts from Old Navy for $7.50 a piece (apparently graphic and patterned tops are not okay when you enter the adulty sector, a very black and white kind of world, as it turns out), I’ve committed a couple months ago to not purchasing any clothing and shoes until all of my essentials (e.g. parental loans, car repairs, insurance, rent, tithing, savings, etc) are dealt with.

Fortunately, my disdain for material hoarding has successfully kept me from handing plastic cards over to Banana Republic and Nine West. Unfortunately, not buying new pants is coming as a minor inconvenience because extra baggage has snuck up around the love handles and the faithful sitting utility. Damn this skinny jean fad and, for the unfortunate, the subsequent muffin tops. What to do? Give up my noodles? Oh hell no. Nonfat milk in my coffee? Might as well dye my water brown. Adult cereal over my Captain Crunch with berries? Yeah I’ll take the bullet.

Okay I guess I’ll utilize that elliptical machine snoring in the other room. But obviously I’m not because here I am blogging, trying to see how many sentences I can churn out in frantic, procrastinating desperation. I mean, what if I haven’t completely digested yet? Do we really want turkey Bolognese all over the pedals and risk getting thrown out of this guesthouse and into the [perfectly paved] streets of Westwood? And plus, what am I going to do or think about while exercising to keep me from prematurely hitting the showers? Listen to the same two albums that have been stuck on my iPod for the past five months because I lost my USB cord? Watch “Dating in the Dark” and strain my already destroyed corneas? Intercede for urban social justice while my lungs and muscles cry out louder for godly mercy?

Anyway, here’s my ode to the disciplined exercising folks out there. And cheers also to those who write insightful posts that actually benefit humanity. And one last hip hip hooray to those who have fantastic corneas, hobbies and social lives! Off to the torture chambers I flee.

AHHAHA YAYYY. When you say torture chamber, does that refer to the room where the elliptical machine is or the shower?

I’m glad my impulsive checking your blog bore fruit.

wahahahaa. talking to me on the phone is better than going on the elliptical anyways. plus, no torture chamber. grace for the win.

HAHAHHA. i think you should write a book. wait.. you already started one.. please finish it so that next time when i text you about what book i should read, you can simply reply: mine.

when i read “give up my noodles?” for some reason i automatically read it with a chinese accent.. hmm.. actually specifically with the duck’s accent in kung fu panda..

o last thing… invite jaron over and play air hockey instead.. a good way to ease in on the working out :)
